• Are you color blind?

• Know somebody who is color blind?

• Think somebody is color blind?

Contrary to the name color blind, most color blind people are not blind to color. A more accurate description is color deficient. We see color. You just dont see it the same as we do. (Perhaps it is really you who are color deficient and we are normal.)

About 1 in 20 males are color blind. About 1 in 200 women are color blind.

The color blind gene is carried by the daughter to her son. For example, my mothers father was color blind. My daughters may have a son who is color blind. Not every sibling is color blind as example by none of my brothers are color blind.

These series of images in this app are designed to provide a test which gives a quick assessment of color vision deficiency of congenital origin. This is the most common form of color vision disturbances. They are referred to as the Ishihara for Dr. Shinobu Ishihara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishihara_color_test).

Pros and cons of PseudoChromatic ColorTest app for iPhone and iPad

PseudoChromatic ColorTest app good for

Only two small things: 1. Please consider using a more serious font. 2. On iPhone 4 the text on plate 18 is cut off.
Its essentially a complete set of chart images that are easy to navigate and appear to be valid. This will be useful for quick screens at my clinic. Thanks!
I thought I might be color blind before I used this app because people told me that what I saw as pink they saw as pale blue, but according to this test Im normal.
My doctor told me I was colour blind a long time ago so I downloaded this for kicks! It works just like it says it does! I can see very few. So it works if you want to see if you are colour blind or not
This app includes many different plates: some to rule-out color blindness, some to rule-in color blindness, and some to diagnose which type of color blindness is present. Unlike other apps out there, this one gives a clinical explanation of why each type of patient would see a particular number. In some of the plates, depending upon the diagnosis of the patient, each person would see a different number, and this app explains why. BRAVO to the app developers on creating such a useful clinical app!

Some bad moments

Nice simple app for color vision. I will use this when I see patients taking medication that might cause problems. One small nit: the arrow keys to navigate are not in keeping with user guidelines, I think, and should be dropped. Instead let us swipe to the next plate, or back. Otherwise, again, nice app.
The additional plates included in this update are great at showing what type of color-deficient individual you are. Its nice to be able to turn the table on the "normal" sighted person with the reverse plates...the ones that the color deficient eye sees the number, but the "normal" eye doesnt. The X path plates were just so-so. Still, for the money, Id rate it at 5 stars.
Great app. Easy to use and gets the job done. The arrow to move from page to page is a good idea. If the patient touches the screen the screen does not move. I would highly recommend this app.
Much better than some other colorblind apps as it picks up deficiencies better.
Seeing as how I myself am deuteranopia, I enjoy taking tests like these to see how well (or bad in my case) I do. Definitely the better of the color blind test apps for the itouch/iphone.
Very good. Thank you. I am not complaining given that this is free. A suggestion though. Make it interactive in order to allow for a score assessment. Specially useful would be if the user has to trace what he sees and the app verifies the accuracy of the trace. At the end you would get a score and diagnosis.
